CHAIRMAN MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION EVERY YEAR, THE PLANNING DIRECTOR HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO COME BEFORE THE COMMISSION AND ANNOUNCE AN OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE WHO'S GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND THIS YEAR, UH, IN 2020, THE WINDOWS, THAT WAS A CHILD VERY CHALLENGING YEAR, AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO KIND OF SINGLE OUT ONE PERSON INDIVIDUALLY WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE CAME TOGETHER AS A TEAM TO, TO, TO HELP AND GET THINGS DONE.

UH, AS MANY OF YOU KNOW, SHE, UH, IMPLEMENTS THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FUTURE BR AND IMPLEMENTS OUR BARRIERS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, UH, PROGRAMS AT THE CITY PARISH PLANNING COMMISSION OFFICE.

SO YOU'LL NOTICE THE COVER IS ALL THINGS BICYCLE FROM ALL PARTS OF THE PARISH, HIGHLIGHTING THE DEVICE, THE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION THAT THIS COMMISSION STRIVES TO ACHIEVE.

2020 PROVED TO BE A VERY CHALLENGING YEAR, BUT ONE BRIGHT SPOT THAT OUR PARISH CAN FOCUS ON IN 2021 AND BEYOND IS HEALTH, CONNECTIVITY, AND EQUITY, WHICH WE BELIEVE OUR PEDESTRIAN BICYCLE MASTER PLAN IS ONE TOOL TO ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS.

IN MANY INSTANCES, THESE SYSTEMS IMPROVE EXISTING DRAINAGE PROBLEMS. OUR NEIGHBORS ARE EXPERIENCING OF NOTE.

AS RYAN MENTIONED, WE HAVE AGREED TO WORK WITH GREG WITH REGARD TO OUR STORMWATER INFRASTRUCTURE DESIGN, AND I'VE ALREADY AGREED TO INSTALL ADDITIONAL STORM WATER QUALITY TREATMENT FACILITIES, SOMETHING I'M QUITE CERTAIN, NONE OF THE OTHER NEIGHBORHOODS IN THE AREA HAVE DONE TO THIS POINT ON, UH, WE'VE MET WITH THE SANTA ROSA HOA ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS.

ON DECEMBER 3RD, WE MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES AND HOA BOARD MEMBERS OF THE ADJACENT SUBDIVISION SANTA ROSA VIA ZOOM.

WE INTRODUCED OUR PROJECT TO THEM AND PROVIDED THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMMUNICATE ANY CONCERNS AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS THEY HAD FOR US.

WE FELT AS A GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE MEETING.

SO THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, THE AGENCY CONTINUED TO OPERATE IN A SAFE MANNER, UH, PLANNING, SOCIALLY DISTANCE AND VIRTUAL EVENTS, UH, REQUIRING MASK AND DOING EVERYTHING THAT THEY CAN TO SERVE THE PUBLIC SAFELY UNTIL THE VACCINE.

AND, UH, THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IS, UH, IN A BETTER PLACE.

SO THEY CONTINUE TO OFFER WELL-MAINTAINED SPACES FOR RESIDENTS TO GET HEALTHY ACTIVITY THAT THEY NEED FOR BOTH BODY AND MIND.

AND, BUT DESPITE THE CHALLENGES OF 2020, THEN THERE WERE SOME THINGS TO CELEBRATE.

THEY CONTINUED THE AGGRESSIVE EFFORT TO IMPROVE PARKS AND ADD NEW AMENITIES FOR THE COMMUNITY.

AND MANY OF YOU ARE AWARE THAT WE ORIGINALLY BROKE GROUND ON THE LARGEST SINGLE PROJECT IN BREX HISTORY, THE REIMAGINATION OF THE ZOO AND GREENWOOD COMMUNITY PARK THREE FARMERS HAVE ALSO CHOSEN TO SPIRIT.

THE FIRST STEP OF THE LAKES PROJECT, THE MASTER PLAN TO TURN THE AIRLINE HIGHWAY INTO BREX 13 COMMUNITY PARK IS NEARING COMPLETION AND THE, THE BIKE PAD MASTER HAS RECEIVED APPROVAL FROM ALL PARTIES.

THOSE FOUR PROJECTS ALONE WILL IMPACT NOT JUST THE PARISH, BUT THE ENTIRE REGION.

BRETT IS ALSO WORKING TO ENSURE A SOLUTION TO THE SYSTEMIC ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE INEQUITIES IN OUR SOCIETY.

UH, THEY CREATED AN AGENCY-WIDE COMMITTEE FINISHER FAIRNESS WHEN IT COMES TO RACE, GENDER, AND ABILITY IN ALL AREAS OF AGENCY, THEY'VE CONTINUED THEIR EFFORTS TO INCREASE PARTNERSHIPS.

THAT'LL HELP BETTER SERVE THE COMMUNITY IN NEW AND INNOVATIVE WAYS.

AND, UH, WE, I SHOULD NOTE THAT IRONICALLY, BECAUSE OF THE VIRUS, THEY JUST SAW A 41% INCREASE IN THE USE OF THE PARK THIS PAST YEAR DUE TO THE GOVERNOR'S ORDER, WHICH DEEMED OUTDOOR ACTIVITY, ESSENTIAL RESIDENTS ACROSS THE PARISH BEGAN TO REDISCOVER THE LINK BETWEEN GREEN SPACES AND THEIR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH.

SO THERE ARE MANY MORE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS IN THE PIPELINE FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR, AND THEY HOPE TO KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING WITH THAT.
