UPLIFTED IS THE PARENT COMPANY TO THE WOMAN'S COMMUNITY RE REHABILITATION CENTER, W C R C, WHICH RELOCATION TO OUR BEAUMONT DRIVE ADDRESS WAS APPROVED IN 2022 BY THIS COUNCIL.

W C R C PROVIDES A HOME-LIKE ENVIRONMENT TO 16 LOUISIANA WOMEN WITH CHRONIC MENTAL ILLNESS, WHO COULD ALSO HAVE A CO-OCCURRING ADDICTIVE DISORDER, AND MANY OF WHOM ARE UNDER A CONDITIONAL RELEASE WITH THE COURT SYSTEM.

OUR CLIENTS RESIDE AT UPLIFTED W C R C PROGRAM FOR ONE TO THREE YEARS ON AVERAGE.

THEY ACTUALLY LIVE ON BEAUMONT DRIVE.

I'D LIKE TO BELIEVE THIS COUNCIL APPROVED THIS RELOCATION BECAUSE THIS COUNCIL BELIEVED IN THE REVITALIZATION OF THIS AREA WITH THE POSITIVE ACTIONS OF SO MANY IN OUR LITTLE CORNER OF BATON ROUGE, POSITIVE CHANGE IS EVIDENT.

WE HAVE CHURCHES, DAYCARES, MEETINGS FOR ADDICTIVE RECOVERY AND FAMILY ORIENTED ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS.

THERE'S A GYM SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY AND A FELLOW RESPECTED NON-PROFIT, THE ARC AND OTHER VITAL BUSINESSES AND SOCIAL SERVICES THAT SUPPORT BETTERING OUR COMMUNITY.

I HAD BEEN WORKING ON BEAUMONT DRIVE FOR OVER 21 YEARS, AND I CLEARLY REMEMBER THE NIGHTCLUB LOCATED AT 2083 DALLAS DRIVE.

I REMEMBER THE POLICE USING OUR ROOF AS SURVEILLANCE FOR THE NIGHTCLUB.

I REMEMBER THE DRAG RACES, THE NOISE, THE GATHERINGS OF INDIVIDUALS IN OUR PARKING LOT WITH ALCOHOL BOTTLES, DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND CONDOMS LEFT FOR US IN THE MORNINGS, OUR NEIGHBOR HAD BECOME A VERY UNSAFE PLACE TO BE, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT.

NOW I HAVE OVER 16 SOULS UNDER THE ORGANIZATION'S, RUTH, EACH NIGHT WITH THE POTENTIAL, WITH THE POTENTIAL DANGERS OF A NIGHTCLUB ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE.

I ASK YOU, HOW SAFE SHOULD THEY FEEL? UPLIFTED HAS INVESTED OVER A MILLION DOLLARS TO RENOVATE OUR BEAUMONT ADDRESS.

SO OUR RESIDENTIAL FACILITY WAS READY TO HOST OUR LADIES AT THE BEGINNING OF 2023.

PLEASE DON'T LET THIS INVESTMENT BE UNDERMINED BY INTRODUCING A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ELEMENT TO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.

PLEASE DON'T SUBJECT OUR RESIDENTS AND CLI AND CLIENTS WHO ARE STRIVING SO HARD TO ESTABLISH A BETTER WAY FORWARD TO ALL THAT WE KNOW COMES WITH A NIGHTCLUB SERVING ALCOHOL.
