IF I CAN MAKE A FEW COMMENTS ABOUT THIS ITEM.

UM, THIS, THIS MATTER CAME BEFORE ME AND CAME BEFORE THE PLANNING WITH THE APPLICANT ASKING TO REZONE HIS PROPERTY.

INITIALLY WHEN HE CAME, HE HAD MENTIONED THAT HE WAS INTERESTED IN COMMERCIAL.

UM, AND EVERYONE IS FAMILIAR WITH HISTORIC HIGHLAND ROAD AND KNOWS, UM, WE'VE ALL SEEN WHAT IT'S LIKE WHENEVER PEOPLE WANT TO CHANGE ZONING ON HIGHLAND ROAD.

UM, HE WAS, HE WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING AND ACCEPTED, UM, THE PROCESS AND APPLIED FOR NEIGHBORHOOD, UH, NEIGHBORHOOD OFFICE.

AND I THINK THAT'S IMPORTANT AND I WANT MY COUNCIL MEMBERS TO UNDERSTAND WHEN TALKING TO THE COMMUNITY.

'CAUSE I KNOW THAT SOME OF OUR DISTRICTS OVERLAP, UM, UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT OUR THOUGHT PROCESS WAS IN MOVING THIS ZONING FORWARD.

CURRENTLY, AS HIS HIS IS ZONED, WE WOULD RUN INTO SHOULD HE PUT A FOR SALE SIGN IN HIS OFFICE, THE ABILITY TO HAVE FOUR APARTMENT COMPLEXES, A FOURPLEX.

WE WOULD ALSO RUN INTO THE SAME ISSUE THAT WE HAD A LITTLE BIT, UM, TWO HOUSES DOWN FROM HIS, WHICH IS A FRATERNITY OR A SORORITY COULD MOVE IN.

HE'S ABSOLUTELY BEEN ACCOMMODATING AND HAS ACCEPTED THE DOWN ZONING TO NEIGHBORHOOD OFFICE WHERE HE'S LIMITED TO 2,500 UH, SQUARE FEET OF OFFICE SPACE.

SHOULD HE, UM, MOVE FORWARD WITH DEMOLISHING WHAT'S CURRENTLY THERE AND PUTTING SOMETHING UP? UH, THE NEIGHBORS HAVE ASKED.

THERE HAS BEEN SOME OPPOSITION, SOME VERY OAL OPEN OPPOSITION AND SOME ADVOCATES IN THE AREA.

THEY'VE JUST ASKED THAT HE DOES, UH, THAT HE DOES EVERYTHING HE POSSIBLY CAN TO PRESERVE THE TWO BEAUTIFUL OAK TREES THAT ARE ON THAT LOT, UM, WHICH I THINK THAT HE'LL BE VERY ACCOMMODATING AND DOING.

UM, WE HAD A GENTLEMAN THAT WAS A STRONG ADVOCATE AND I HAVE TO JUST ADMIRE HIS PERSISTENCE.

HIS NAME IS RUSSELL HODGES AND HE WANTED TO TALK ABOUT THE HISTORY ON HIGHLAND ROAD AND HE COULDN'T BE HERE TONIGHT, BUT HE SUBMITTED AN EMAIL ON OPPOSITION.

UM, HIS FATHER RENOVATED A HOUSE DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM THIS LOCATION THAT WAS BUILT IN 1798.

UM, THAT HOUSE SOLD ON FRIDAY TO A NEW FAMILY.

UM, AND HE WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT THE, THE HISTORY THAT HIS FAMILY HAD PUT INTO THAT HOUSE AND THAT HE HAD A DESIRE FOR HIGHLAND ROAD TO BE HISTORICALLY PRESERVED IN THE SAME NATURE THAT IT'S CURRENTLY IN.
