IT IS MY DISTINCT HONOR AND PRIVILEGE TO INTRODUCE TO YOU ONE OF OUR SUPERIOR CADETS CADET PFC, LIAM WOODS, WHILE PARTICIPATING IN HIS FIRST YEAR OF J-R-R-T-C AS A LET ONE.
HE HAS PARTICIPATED IN DRILL TEAM, RIFLE MARKSMANSHIP, AND JOINT LEVEL ACADEMIC BOARD TEAM, ALL WHILE MAINTAINING OVER A 4.0 GPA THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.
IN ADDITION TO THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS, HE HAS RECENTLY COMPETED IN THE PARISH WIDE LET ONE BOARD AND RECEIVED FIRST PLACE IN THIS COMPETITION HERE, CADET WOODS SHOWED EXCEPTIONAL KNOWLEDGE OF MILITARY HISTORY, CUSTOMS, AND LEADERSHIP.
ADDITIONALLY, CADET WOODS HAS DONE A GREAT SERVICE FOR THE COMMUNITY IN PARTICIPATING IN SERVICE LEARNING ACTIVITIES AT VARIOUS SCHOOLS LIKE HIGHLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

THE EVENT WAS BROADCASTED ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL, UH, TURNING VISION INTO ACTION, AND WE LAID OUT CHALLENGES TO THE COMMUNITY WHO DARED TO BE GREAT.
AS A SYSTEM, WE COMMIT TO PREPARING OUR STUDENTS TO BE GLOBALLY READY, UH, ADHERING TO A RESPECTFUL CULTURE, PROVIDING EXCELLENT ENVIRONMENTS, MAINTAINING ACCOUNTABLE SYSTEMS, AND CULTIVATING TRANSFORMATIVE, TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCE.
WE ACHIEVE GREATNESS BY ADHERING TO OUR STRATEGIC PLAN, AND TONIGHT'S UPDATES ARE FOCUSED ON THE THREE CORE COMMITMENTS OF OUR NEWLY UPDATED STRATEGIC PLAN.
UNDER THE PILLAR OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, UH, WE CONTINUE OUR SYSTEMIC COMMON FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM WHERE BRIEF ASSESSMENTS ARE ADMINISTERED IN OUR FOUR CONTENT AREAS.
THE DATA IS TRACKED IN A TIMELY FASHION AND THROUGH THE ONGOING MENT OF THE ASSESSMENT DATA, INSTRUCTIONAL ADJUSTMENTS ARE BEING MADE TO MONITOR TEACHING AND LEARNING ACROSS THE CLASSROOMS. UH, THIS PAST WEEK, MEMBERS OF THE DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TEAM HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ANALYZE STUDENT DATA AND THE PROJECT AND THE IMPACT IT'S HAVING ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.
I WOULD LOVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO THE SAME EXERCISE WITH THE BOARD AT A MEETING SO YOU ALL COULD SEE HOW WE ARE USING OUR COMEDY FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT INITIATIVE TO TRACK, UH, WHETHER OR NOT OUR STUDENTS ARE LEARNING PARTICULAR STANDARDS, AND THEN HOW THAT INFORMATION IS USED TO BE PLACED IN THE STATEWIDE CALCULATOR TO DETERMINE IF THIS WERE THE ACTUAL LEAP TEST WHERE OUR SCHOOLS WOULD PERFORM ON THE ASSESSMENT PART OF THE ACTUAL TEST.
UH, I THINK IT'S AN EXCELLENT WAY FOR OUR TEACHERS TO MONITOR WHETHER OR NOT STUDENTS ARE LEARNING EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE TEACHING AND MORE IMPORTANTLY WHETHER OR NOT THEY'RE MASTERING THE STANDARDS, UH, THAT ARE OUTLINED IN THE STATE CURRICULUM.
AND SO IT'S A REALLY GOOD EXERCISE.
IT WAS VERY EYE-OPENING FOR OUR STAFF.
AND AGAIN, I LOVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO THAT WITH THE BOARD.
OUR HIGH SCHOOLS ARE CURRENTLY ADMINISTERING THE A CT ASSESSMENTS TO IDENTIFY STUDENTS IN LOUISIANA.
ALL HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE A CT.
THE DISTRICT IS ALSO ASSISTING SEVERAL HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WITH ADDITIONAL TESTING SESSIONS TO INCREASE THEIR TOPS AND SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.
OUR DISTRICT ASSESSMENT TEAM CONTINUES TO FACILITATE CROSS-DIVISIONAL AND DEPARTMENTAL WORKING GROUPS TO LEAD THE READINESS FOR THE UPCOMING LEAP 2025 TESTING CYCLES, WHICH BEGIN THE FIRST WEEK IN APRIL.
OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, WE WILL SHARPEN OUR INTENTIONAL FOCUS AND COMMUNICATION STREAMS TO SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES WITH TEST AND PREPARATIONS.
UH, DISTRICT STAFF HAS ENGAGED IN AN INTERNAL PROJECT 75 CHALLENGE WHERE INTERNAL DEPARTMENT MEMBERS ARE SIGNING UP TO SUPPORT IDENTIFIED SCHOOL AND CHALLENGING AREAS.
THIS INTENSIVE SUPPORT WILL CONTINUE ON A WEEKLY BASIS UNTIL STATEWIDE TESTING BEGINS AND ENDS.
AND SO WE'RE ASKING ALL EMPLOYEES WHO ARE NOT ASSIGNED TO A SCHOOL TO SIGN UP AND WORK IN A SCHOOL DURING THE WEEK PROVIDING TUTORING, PROVIDING TEACHING IF NECESSARY, IF THEY'RE A CERTIFIED TEACHER AND WORK IN A PARTICULAR AREA, WORK WITH SMALL GROUPS.
AND WE HAD TREMENDOUS RESPONSE FROM ALL EMPLOYEES WHO ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE BACK IN THE SCHOOL.
AND THOSE WHO ARE CERTIFIED TEACHERS ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET BACK IN THE CLASSROOM.
AND SO I AM DELIGHTED AND THANKFUL FOR THEM.
UH, OUR DISTRICT STAFF CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE TRANSITION OF THE IDEA CHARTER SCHOOLS TO DERMAN AND THIRD FUTURES.

UH, WE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE WORKING TO INCREASE AND ENHANCE OUR SAFETY AND SECURITY MEASURES.
LAST, BUT CERTAIN, AND NOT LEAST UNDER THE AREA OF EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT, OUR ACADEMICS TEAM CONTINUES TO REVIEW CURRICULAR RESOURCES TO ENSURE THAT HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS ARE IN PLACE THROUGHOUT OUR CLASSROOMS AND TO PROMOTE INSTRUCTIONAL COHERENCE.

I ALSO WAS ABLE TO HEAR DIFFERENT EYECARE SPECIALISTS TALK ABOUT THE DIFFERENT SCHOOLS THAT THEY'RE IN AND MADE A TALLY EVERY TIME A NEW SCHOOL WAS MENTIONED.
THEY MENTIONED OVER 20 SCHOOLS THAT THEY'VE BEEN IN, UM, JUST IN THE PAST MONTH.
AND THEY ARE FOCUSING A LOT RIGHT NOW WITH VAPING AND RAISING AWARENESS WITH KIDS FROM PRESCHOOL ALL THE WAY UP ABOUT WHAT VAPING IS AND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AND WHY IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA.
AND SO THEY'RE DOING A LOT OF OTHER THINGS TOO.
BUT THERE WAS A LOT OF FOCUS ON, UM, THAT RECENTLY WITH ICARE IN OUR SCHOOLS.

UH, WE HELD OUR MONTHLY BOARD MEETING.
IT WAS, IT WAS REALLY INTERESTING, VERY ENLIGHTENING, UH, VS IS DOING SOME OUTSTANDING THINGS IN OUR SCHOOLS.
SOME OF THE MAIN TAKEAWAYS WERE THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE LOST ONE MAJOR, UH, CONTRIBUTOR, WHICH WAS THE BATON ROUGE LITTLE THEATER.
SO THEY'RE GOING TO RAMP UP THEIR FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES.

AFTER RECEIVING RE SUPPORT, THEY THEN COME BACK INTO THE SCHOOLS.
IF THEY HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THEIR GOALS AND OBJECTIVES, THEN THEY CAN MATRICULATE DOWN TO TIER TWO OR POSSIBLY TIER ONE.
WE HAVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH HEALTH CENTERS IN SCHOOLS, CAPITAL AREA, HUMAN SERVICES DISTRICT, AND OPEN HEALTH.
THE REASON WE HAVE THOSE PARTNERSHIPS IS BECAUSE WE HAVE ONLY 31 PROVIDERS.
AND AS YOU KNOW, WE HAVE 80 SOME ODD SCHOOLS.
OUR PROVIDERS ARE THERE TO SERVE THEIR HOMESCHOOL, BUT BECAUSE OF THE LIMITED NUMBER, WE HAVE THEM GO OUT AND SUPPORT OUR ELEMENTARY CAMPUSES, UM, ONE DAY A WEEK, BUT THEY'RE AT THEIR HOMESCHOOL.

HOW MANY KIDS HAVE MATRICULATED THROUGH AND GOT TO TIER THREE OR TIER TWO? HOW MANY KIDS STAYED IN TIER ONE? SO WE, AND BRIDGETTE AND I BOTH USE THAT SYSTEM AND COLLABORATE.
THAT'S GREAT BECAUSE A LOT WITH, WITH 250 KIDS PER SOCIAL WORKER, SOMEBODY CAN VERY EASILY FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS.

ARE THEY, DO Y'ALL PROVIDE TRAINING TO HELP THEM IF THEY, IF THEY DON'T HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH BACKGROUND, THAT THEY CAN IDENTIFY CERTAIN TRIGGERS AND DIFFERENT THINGS LIKE THAT? THIS KID MAY BE FLYING UNDER THE RADAR, BUT I CAN SEE SOMETHING IN HIS AFFECT OR THE WAY, YOU KNOW, ONE DAY HE'S THIS WAY, THE NEXT DAY HE'S THAT WAY.
OR OUR SCHOOL COUNSELORS TRAINED TO IDENTIFY THESE KIDS.
THAT COULD BE EVENTUALLY AN ISSUE, BUT THEY'VE JUST KIND OF FLOWN UNDERNEATH THE RADAR.

HOWEVER, THEY'RE NOT LICENSED.
THEY CAN PROVIDE SHORT TERM INTERVENTIONS, WHICH CAN BE BEHAVIOR OR ACADEMIC.
AND IF THEY SEE THERE'S A PROBLEM, FOR EXAMPLE, A STUDENT HAS SEVERELY DEPRESSED.
WE'VE, WE'VE WORKED WITH THEM, WE SEE THEY'RE SEVERELY DEPRESSED.
WE WILL CONTACT THE PARENT AND THEN WORK THEM OVER TO SOMEONE WHO CAN GIVE THEM CLINICAL SUPPORT EITHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL SYSTEM.

SO WHAT THAT MEANS IS OVER THE THREE YEARS, THEY'RE 615 MORE ON TIME, UH, OR MORE STUDENTS THAT ARE ON TRACK FOR ON TIME GRADUATION, WHICH HAS RESULTED IN AN ADDITIONAL 554 GRADUATES, WHICH HAS SAVED 789,000 AROUND IN TERMS OF CREDIT RECOVERY.
BECAUSE WE KNOW IN HIGH SCHOOL YOU HAVE TO EARN THE CREDIT IN ORDER TO GRADUATE.
IF THEY DON'T EARN THE CREDIT, THEY HAVE TO GO BACK AND RECOVER.
THAT COSTS MONEY, THEIR SYSTEMS, THEIR PEOPLE THAT NEED TO BE PAID IN ORDER TO GET THAT DONE.
