UH, THIRD GRADE STUDENTS WILL HAVE THREE ATTEMPTS TO MEET STATE REQUIREMENTS OVER A 90 DAY WINDOW.

UH, THE LEAVE 2025 WINDOWS ARE CURRENTLY OPEN AND SOME OF OUR SITES ARE ACTUALLY ENGAGED IN LEAP 2025.

AND WE WERE ABLE TO PRESENT OUR STUDENT FIRST REALIGNMENT PLAN ON TUESDAY NIGHT.

UH, THE PLAN INVOLVES 28 SITES WITH AN IMPACT OF NEARLY 10,178 STUDENTS AND 1,412 STAFF.

UH, AN ESTIMATED 2,239 STUDENTS WILL BE PLACED IN HIGHER QUALITY SEATS WITH MOVES TO HIGHER PERFORMING SCHOOLS AND IMPROVE FACILITY CONDITIONS.

WITH THIS PLAN, WE ARE RECOMMENDING NINE SCHOOLS CLOSED AND 10 BUILDINGS WILL BE REPURPOSED AND OR VACATED.

THE PLAN ALSO INTRODUCES NEW SPECIALTY PROGRAMS AT 13 IDENTIFIED SITES, WHILE CHANGING THE ATTENDANCE ZONES OF A PROJECTED 16 SCHOOLS TO ACCOMMODATE CONSOLIDATIONS, CLOSURES AND STREAMLINING OF SPECIALTY PROGRAMS. I BELIEVE THIS PLAN IS INTENDED FOR THE OUTCOMES THAT WILL PUT OUR STUDENT FIRST.

AND I LOOK FORWARD TO MORE CONVERSATION AS WE APPROACH, UH, A DATE WHEN WE CAN RECEIVE A VOTE AND HOPEFULLY APPROVE ON THE STUDENT'S FIRST PLAN FOR OUR STAFF WHO MAY BE AFFECTED, UH, BY DEPENDING APPROVAL ON THE REALIGNMENT PLAN.

WE UNDERSTAND THAT THESE CONVERSATIONS LEAD TO NATURAL CONCERNS REGARDING JOB PLACEMENT.

I DON'T KNOW HOW OFTEN YOU GUYS HEAR THAT WORD DELIGHTFUL, BUT FOR ME, THIS WAS A DELIGHTFUL EXPERIENCE AND I REALLY WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS WITH SUPERINTENDENT, UH, COLE'S ENDORSEMENT AND SUPPORT FROM AMBER BOYD, MARTHA SEALEY, AND PRINCIPAL HILTON, I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE A PROJECT IN MY DOCTORAL CURRICULUM AT VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY.

UH, BY INTERVIEWING THREE EAST BATON ROUGE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS PROGRESSING THROUGH THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY PATHWAY.

THESE YOUNG LADIES WERE EXCITED ABOUT THEIR FUTURE, PASSIONATE ABOUT CARING FOR OTHERS, AND APPRECIATIVE OF THE STAFF AND SUPPORT AT CTEC.

AS I TRAVEL ACROSS THE STATE AND TALK TO OTHER STUDENTS, THIS EXPERIENCE REALLY STOOD OUT FOR ME.

SO THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THIS PROGRAM.

THE NAP RESULTS FROM THE LAST TWO CYCLES.

UM, AND WHAT YOU CAN SEE FROM HERE IS OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS, IT INDICATES, UH, SUSTAINED IMPROVEMENT IN READING AND MATH SCORES AND A NATIONAL RANKING OF NUMBER 32.

THAT'S UNPRECEDENTED IN LOUISIANA HISTORY.

NOBODY'S HAD THIS CONVERSATION BEFORE.

NOW BEHIND US ARE THE CONVERSATIONS, THANK GOD FOR MISSISSIPPI.

WE'RE NOT LAST.

BUT WITH THIS PROGRESS, THERE ARE THOSE THAT ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE NOTORIETY AND THE CHALLENGES AHEAD.

THEY WOULD PREFER TO REVERT BACK TO STATUS QUO AND FIND COMFORT IN THEIR FAMILIAR ROUTINES.

THERE ARE OTHERS THAT ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE ENCOURAGING NEWS, BUT UNSURE OF THE CHALLENGING LANDSCAPE AND WARY OF THE CHALLENGES AHEAD.

HOWEVER, THERE ARE THOSE WHO BELIEVE WE HAVE SEEN THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG AND, AND WE HAVE ONLY SEEN THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG IN OUR POTENTIAL HAS JUST BEGUN TO SHINE.

FOR THOSE, THE FOCUS IS ON STEWARDING OUR PROGRESS TO ENSURE SUSTAINABILITY AND WORKING COLLABORATIVELY WITH EDUCATORS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS ON INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO FURTHER ENGAGE OUR STUDENTS.

UNFORTUNATELY, 45% OF ALL LOUISIANA COLLEGE FRESHMEN TAKE A REMEDIAL MATH CLASS.

JIM HENDERSON TO DEFINE CAREER AND COLLEGE READINESS FOR LOUISIANA HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES.

AGAIN, I WANNA READ THIS ONE TO YOU GUYS.

SO, THE DEFINITION READS, CAREER AND COLLEGE READINESS MEANS THAT INDIVIDUALS GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL PREPARED FOR UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, OR TECHNICAL COLLEGE PROGRAMMING WITHOUT NEED FOR REMEDIATION OR CO-REQUISITE SUPPORT AND OR GRADUATE AND OR GRADUATE PREPARED FOR EMPLOYMENT.

WITH THE FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY INTO CAREER PATHWAYS, POSSESSING BOTH RIGOROUS CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AND THE ABILITY TO APPLY THAT KNOWLEDGE GRADUATES POSSESS A BASELINE OF THE CORE COMPETENCIES TIED TO LIFE AND CAREER SUCCESS IN THE 21ST CENTURY.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION, CRITICAL AND CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING, ADAPTABLE RESILIENCE, CULTURAL COMPETENCE, AND SELF-REFLECTIVE AWARENESS, AND ARE POISED FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT BASED ON INDIVIDUAL PLANS AND GOALS THROUGH HIGHER EDUCATION OR CAREER TRAINING.

THIS DEFINITION IS ASPIRATIONAL.

THIS AFTERNOON, I'D LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THE STEWARDSHIP MECHANISM THAT BESSIE AND LDOE HAVE DEVELOPED TO SUPPORT THE CONTINUED GROWTH AND SU AND SUSTAINABILITY OF OUR INITIATIVES.

THIS METRIC IS NOW EMAILED DIRECTLY TO EVERY SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER ACROSS THE STATE.

WE HEARD FROM STUDENTS AND WE HEARD FROM EMPLOYERS, CAN YOU MAKE EDUCATION RELEVANT AND CAN YOU HELP US WITH OUR EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT PIPELINE? BESSIE RESPONDED BY RECOGNIZING THE VALUE OF WORK-BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND INCORPORATED THIS VALUE IN THE SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM.

SINCE THE INITIAL TOUR STOP IN BATON ROUGE ON NOVEMBER 19TH, SCHOOL LEADERS, COMMUNITY LEADERS AND EMPLOYERS ACROSS THE STATE HAVE COME TO THE TABLE WORKING COLLABORATIVELY TO CREATE THESE HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS.

OUR BRIDGING SUCCESS TOUR IS PURPOSE TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THIS INITIATIVE, RECOGNIZING THE VALUE FOR LOUISIANA, BUT WE WANTED TO DO MORE THAN THAT.

SO WE'VE PARTNERED WITH MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS AND SUCCESSFUL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO SHARE THEIR PROVEN MODELS ALONG WITH SUPPORT FROM DEDICATED SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS FROM LDOE AND THE LOUISIANA WORKFORCE COMMISSION.

SO HOW WILL WE MEASURE SUCCESS? OUR GOAL IS TO INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF GRADUATES THAT ARE COLLEGE CAREER OR SERVICE READY, AS MEASURED BY THE ACCELERATION INDEX BY 15 POINTS.

THE ACCELERATOR INDEX IS ONE OF THE 12 ATTRIBUTES WITHIN THE ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM THAT HELP US TO ASSESS THE PERCENT OF STUDENTS CAREER AND COLLEGE READY.

THE GRAPHIC ASSOCIATED WITH THE KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR IDENTIFIES THE INITIATIVE AS THE PERCENT OF STUDENTS EARNING HIGH QUALITY CAREER CREDENTIALS.

THE BLACK DIAGONAL LINE REPRESENTS THE HISTORICAL PERCENT OF STUDENTS IN THE GRADUATION COHORT IN THE GOLD DIAGONAL LINE REPRESENTS THE TARGET MOVING FORWARD AT EACH ANNUAL MILESTONE.

THE THREE BARS REPRESENT THE KEY ENDEAVORS THAT LDOE IS LEADING TO SUPPORT THE INITIATIVE.

HOWEVER, THE MILESTONE SERVE AS CHECKPOINTS FOR PIVOTAL DECISIONS, WHICH MAY REPLACE OR ACCELERATE KEY KEY ENDEAVORS.

AS YOU SEE, THE KEY ENDEAVOR IMPLEMENTATION RATES ARE 59%, 59%, AND 21% RESPECTIVELY.
