WE SERVICE A GRADE LEVEL OF PRE-K THROUGH FIFTH. OUR SPECIAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE TRADITIONAL GIFTED, GIFTED RESOURCE, TALENTED ART, TALENTED THEATER, DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING. PRE-K DEVELOPMENTALLY DELAYED, ESS AND A LARGE POPULATION OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS. WE ALSO OFFER STRING AND BAND. OUR SUBGROUP PERCENTAGES ARE 84% ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED, 66% BLACK, 23% HISPANIC, 8% WHITE, 3% ASIAN, AND 17% ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS. YOU GUYS KNOW THAT I WAS OUR COVID YEAR, WHERE YOU SEE THE EYE OF THE TIGER 2021. THAT IS WHERE THE ELT WAS INTRODUCED INTO OUR DATA. SO WE DID TAKE A LITTLE BIT OF DIP, BUT WE ALSO BEGAN TO FOCUS ON THE CURRICULUM AND HOW IT WOULD SUPPORT OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS AND GETTING THEM SUPPORT AND SPEAKING, LISTENING, READING, AND WRITING IN ENGLISH. UH, JUMPING TO 2024, YOU'LL SEE THAT WE ACHIEVED A SCHOOL SCORE OF 64.7% C AND IN 2025 WE INCREASED 68.7 C. SO OUR SPS ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE 20 24 20 25 SCHOOL YEAR, WE INCREASED OUR OVERALL SPS BY 4%. WE RECEIVED A B PROGRESS INDEX, AND WE ARE ALSO THE SECOND HIGHEST ENGLISH LANGUAGE GROWTH IN THE DISTRICT. I, I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD DEPARTMENT, WHICH IS VERY NEAR AND DEAR TO MY HEART, WITH OUR FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS OF, UM, ENCRYPTING OUR BABIES WITH FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS TO SUPPORT THEM IN BEING KINDERGARTEN READY. IN FIRST GRADE, WE INCREASED TO 33%, AND SECOND GRADE WE INCREASED TO 14%. AND IN THIRD GRADE, WE INCREASED TO 19%, BRINGING AN OVERALL SCHOOL WIDE TO, UM, A POSITIVE 16%. WHAT'S STOOD OUT MOST CLEARLY IS THAT THE COMMUNITY IS DEEPLY INTERESTED IN DEVELOPMENTS THAT IMPROVE OVERALL QUALITY OF LIFE AND INVEST IN FUTURE GENERATIONS. SOME OF THE TOP PRIORITIES IDENTIFIED INCLUDED A POSSIBLY THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SCHOOL WITH A COMMUNITY CENTER OR ACCESS TO A GROCERY STORE IN THE AREA, UH, A MEDICAL FACILITY, OR EVEN EXPANDING YOUTH PROGRAMMING AND PLAY AREAS IN THAT AREA, AS WELL AS OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT. IN TERMS OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, RESIDENTS EXPRESSED A DESIRE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD SERVING BUSINESSES, WHILE ALSO CLEARLY STATING WHAT THEY DO NOT WANT TO SEE. SPECIFICALLY AN OVER CONCENTRATION OF TIRE SHOPS, LIQUOR STORES, AND OTHER USES THAT DO NOT CONTRIBUTE TO LONG-TERM COMMUNITY STABILITY. REGARDING HOUSING, THERE WAS INTEREST IN A VARIETY OF OPTIONS INCLUDING SENIOR HOUSING, STUDENT HOUSING WITH THE NEARBY UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY, AND IMPORTANTLY MIDDLE CLASS HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THAT PARTI PARTICULAR AREA. ALONG WITH CLEAR CONCERNS ABOUT LARGE SCALE APARTMENT DEVELOPMENTS AS SHARED BY OUR SUPERINTENDENT IN THE PAST. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ANY FUTURE DECISIONS MADE BY THIS BOARD REFLECT THE VOICE AND DESIRES OF THE COMMUNITY. WE KNOW THAT, UH, THERE MAY BE AN ITEM OR WHAT HAVE YOU THAT MAY COME LATER ON ABOUT WHAT MAY REPLACE THE, UH, BANKS ELEMENTARY SITE AND WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE AS FAR AS OUR COMMUNITY IS CONCERNED, AND THAT THIS IS THE REASON WHY I'M BRINGING THIS REPORT TODAY. THIS MEETING WAS AN IMPORTANT FIRST STEP IN THAT PROCESS. AS THE DISTRICT THREE REPRESENTATIVE, I REMAIN COMMITTED TO ENSURING THAT THE RED REDEVELOPMENT OF THIS SITE IS COMMUNITY INFORMED, STRATEGICALLY ALIGNED, AND REFLECTIVE OF BOTH THE NEEDS AND THE VISION OF THE RESIDENTS WE SERVE. WE WILL CONTINUE TO ENGAGE STAKEHOLDERS, GATHER INPUT, AND EXPLORE OPTIONS THAT SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE GROWTH, UH, COMMUNITY STABILITY AND MEANINGFUL INVESTMENT IN NORTH BATON ROUGE. THE CONFERENCE AFFIRMED THAT OUR FOUNDATION IS WELL ALIGNED WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND OPERATING FROM A STRONG HYBRID MODEL, WHILE ALSO REINFORCING THE IMPORTANCE OF CONTINUING TO STRENGTHEN GOVERNANCE AS WE GROW OUR FUNDRAISING WORK.
