THE OPPOSITION HAS MADE ON BEHALF OF THE SHERWOOD FOREST CITIZENS ASSOCIATION WITH MORE THAN 3000 RESIDENTS, THE TERRORIST CIVIC ASSOCIATION WITH MORE THAN 3,500 RESIDENTS, THE SHARPSTOWN HOMES ASSOCIATION MORE THAN A HUNDRED RESIDENTS ARE PROPERTY OWNERS WHO RESIDE ON RESIDE ON CAROLYN SUE DRIVE.

AND THE MORE THAN 125 CONCERN RESIDENTS WHO INUNDATED THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION WITH PERSONAL STATEMENTS AND OPPOSITION TO THIS REZONING ATTEMPT COLLECTIVELY THE STATEMENT IN OPPOSITION REPRESENTS THE VOICE OF THOUSANDS OF CITIZENS WHO LIVE IN THE AREA AND WHOSE LIVES WILL BE ADVERSELY AFFECTED.

IF MURPHY OIL IS ALLOWED TO CIRCUMVENT THE RESTRICTIONS OF THE OVERLAY DISTRICT WHEN STERN DEVELOPMENT BROUGHT THIS PROPERTY, I KNEW THAT IT WAS WITHIN THE OVERLAY DISTRICT, WHICH DID NOT ALLOW GAS STATIONS ON BEHALF OF THE COUNTLESS LOCAL RESIDENTS WHO WORKED TO IMPLEMENT THE OVERLAY DISTRICT AND WHO ARE BMS REALLY OPPOSED TO THIS REZONING WAIVER WE RESPECTFULLY, OR AS THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL TO SIDE WITH THE PROPERTY RIGHTS OF LOCAL RESIDENTS OVER THE COMMERCIAL INTEREST OF FOREIGN CORPORATIONS, MURPHY OIL HAS NOT CARRIED ITS HEAVY BURDEN OF SHOWING WHY IT SHOULD NOT FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE OVERLAY DISTRICT.

THE OWNERS OF THIS PROPERTY, STERN DEVELOPMENT IS A COMPANY WITH OFFICES IN ATLANTA AND SOUTH CAROLINA, WHICH DOES BUSINESS AROUND THE NATION.

IT IS NOT A LOCAL BUSINESS WITH CLOSE TIES TO OUR COMMUNITY.

MURPHY OIL IS A GLOBAL ENERGY COMPANY BASED IN HOUSTON.

MURPHY OIL ALREADY HAS SEVERAL GAS STATIONS IN THE BATON ROUGE AREA.

AND ALTHOUGH ONE WOULD ASSUME THAT MURPHY OIL TREATS ALL RESIDENTS AT BATTLERS THE SAME.

IT DOES NOT THIS MORNING ON EIGHT 1820 MURPHY OIL CHARGES CUSTOMERS IN NORTH BATON ROUGE AT SCOTLAND GRILL A DOLLAR 76 PER GALLON FOR GAS.

WELL IT CHARGE ITS CUSTOMERS IN SOUTH BATON ROUGE AT JEFFERSON HIGHWAY A DOLLAR 52 PER GALLON, A BUSINESS LIKE MURPHY OIL THAT TREATS RESIDENTS IN ONE PART OF TOWN BETTER THAN THOSE OTHERS SHOULD NOT BE WELCOMED.

THE GLOSSY RENDERINGS PRESENTED BY MURPHY OIL SHOW A WELL LANDSCAPED WELL-MAINTAINED SERVICE STATION.

THESE ROSY IMAGES TO NOT COMPORT WITH THE REALITY OF HOW MURPHY OIL MAINTAINS ITS PROPERTIES ATTACHED TO RECENT PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN OF MURPHY OIL'S GAS STATION ON BURBANK AND LEE IN FLORIDA.

AND WOODDALE WHICH SHOW FLOWERBEDS OVERGROWN WITH WEEDS THAT HAVE OBVIOUSLY NOT BEEN MAINTAINED AT ALL.

WHETHER A GAS STATION HAS LANDSCAPED WELL OR NOT.

IT IS STILL A GAS STATION PLANNING, AZALEAS AND CREPE MYRTLES AROUND THE PERIMETER OF MURPHY OIL'S GAS STATION WILL NOT DECREASE TRAFFIC ELIMINATE CRIME OR INCREASE THE RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY VALUE OF NEARBY NEIGHBORHOODS.

THE ORIGINAL OVERLAY DISTRICT WAS PASSED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION WITH NO OBJECTION IN 2010, THE PURPOSE STATED WAS STRENGTHENED THE PHYSICAL AND ECONOMIC CHARACTER OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD, THE OVERLAY DISTRICT.

IT'S CUSTOMERS THAT SIMPLY GO TO ANOTHER NEIGHBORHOOD STATION.

BATON ROUGE HAS ENOUGH BLY.

I STOPPED ONLY EVEN AT THE EXOME AIRLINE AT BLUE LINE.

AND WHAT WITNESSED DO DRUGS DO AIRLINE HAS CONVENIENT MAJOR GROCERY BETWEEN SECTIONS OF THE SAY THAT IS CONDUCIVE TO CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

AND THAT ENOUGH COMING FROM WHITNEY THOMPSON, ANOTHER GAS STATION, YOUR OLD, OLD HAMMOND AND HAIRLINE COMING FROM DICK SPEAR.

PLEASE DO NOT APPROVE THE EXCEPTION FROM THE OLD HAND AND OVERLAY DISTRICT, WHICH ONLY FIVE YEARS AGO WAS CHANGED.

DISTRICT WILL PROHIBIT THE DEVELOPMENT OF GAS STATIONS IN THE AREA.

MY REASONS WERE SEVERAL OR ONE YEAR BY DISTRICT WAS CREATED TO HELP PRESERVE THE CHARACTER, THE AREA AND NOT INCLUDE OCCUPANCIES, WHICH WOULD DISTRACTING THE PROPERTY VALUES IN AREA.

NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN THESE FIVE YEARS.

THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT A GASOLINE STATION AND CONVENIENCE STORE WOULD DETRACT FROM PROPERTY VALUES IN THE AREA.

ANOTHER REASON IS TRAFFIC ALLOWING THEM ALLOWING THE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC THIS WOULD INVOLVE TO ENTER AND EXIT.

THIS FACILITY WOULD BE AN UNDUE BURDEN ON AN ALREADY OVERUSED INTERSECTION.

IN ADDITION, IT APPEARS THE PILOT WOULD ALLOW ACCESS FROM A BACKSTREET, WHICH REQUIRED CARS TO MAKE A LEFT TURN FROM OLD HAND AND INTO THE BACK STREET WHERE THERE IS NO LEFT TURN LIGHT.

ADDITIONALLY, IT'S DIFFICULT TO CROSS AIRLINE HIGHWAY ON HOLD.

HAMMOND IS THE TRAFFIC SYMBOL AND SET UP TO ALLOW THE TRAFFIC ON THE AIRLINE.

HOWARD HAD THE MOST TIME FOR TRAVEL IS SOMETIMES TAKES TWO OR THREE LIGHT CYCLES TO CRAWL.

SOME AIRLINE WILL HOLD HIM BECAUSE HE FINALLY HAS THE STUDY BEEN DONE ABOUT THE TRAFFIC PROBLEMS IS CREATED AT THIS INTERSECTION AND ON AIRLINE CARS ENTERING AND EXITING THIS FACILITY.

I THINK IF WE KNEW HOW MANY CARS TRAVELED THROUGH THIS INTERSECTION OF AN AIRLINE GIVEN DAY, AND THEN ADD IN THE NUMBER OF CARS THAT WOULD TURN IN OR EXIT FROM THIS, IT'D BE CLEAR THAT THE CONGESTION, WHICH BATON ROUGE IS ORIENTING THIS FOR WOULD ADD ANOTHER IMPOSSIBLE SITUATION TO AN ALREADY CONGESTED HERE FROM DALE CRAFT.

TRAFFIC IS BAD ENOUGH TRYING TO CROSS THE ALBUM'S OF TRAFFIC HEADED EAST ON OLD HAMMOND AND TRYING TO TURN LEFT ON CAROLYN TO DROP, WHICH IS THE STREET THAT IS BEHIND THE GAS STATION COMING FROM JOSEFINA ESPENOSA I OPPOSED THE MURPHY OLD GAS STATION, LITTLE COLLAGE OF IRAN, ELEANOR FROM SHARON HOWARD.
